New web portal Kultur Räume Berlin launched!

New web portal Kultur Räume Berlin enables a completely digitalised application process

From 14 March 2023, freelance, professional Berlin artists will be able to find subsidised artistic workspaces on a new digital web portal. These are rehearsal, production and project spaces that can be rented on a long-term basis as part of the Workspace Programme of the Senate Department for Culture and Europe. Studios for visual artists can still be found at https://www.bbk-kulturwerk.de/atelierfoerderung-berlin.

The new web portal Kultur Räume Berlin offers a completely digitalised procedure from a single source: from the publication of the call for applications to the application and viewing appointments to the allocation of the space.
What is new in the web portal Kultur Räume Berlin?

All information at a glance

With the new web portal, artists seeking space can now find all the information they need in one place. It is now also possible to find out at a glance which spaces are part of the same call for applications. This feature enables space-seeking artists to make an informed decision on which space(s) to prioritise when applying.

Personalised dashboards

In the new web portal, artists can easily and conveniently view and manage their documents, applications and viewing appointments in the personalised dashboard.

More time for application preparation

In the new web portal, the application forms are available during the entire application period. While the previous software solution only activated the application form after the viewing date, artists in the web portal now have access to the form from the publication date and thus more time to prepare for the application. The application forms can be temporarily saved and edited at any time until the application deadline.

Multilingualism

In addition to the improved digital processes, it is especially noticeable that the announcements and room information are now completely translated into English. This has also made the service more accessible to the many international artists.

Area for tenants

Artists who have been awarded a workspace can also view information on the rental contract in the dashboard, edit contact details and upload the necessary documents to verify fulfilment of the funding criteria.

Accessibility

An important aim is to make our services as accessible as possible. At launch, the new web portal can already be controlled entirely via keyboard and read with a screen reader. In addition, sufficient contrast was taken into account in the colour selection and a dark background ensures a pleasant reading experience.

Which spaces can be found in the new web portal?

For the time being, the web portal only contains the long-term calls for proposals for subsidised workspaces. Kultur Räume Kontingente and the temporary spaces in Prenzlauer Allee can still be found on the website https://kulturraeume.berlin/en for the time being.

Funded studios in the Workspace Programme are advertised and allocated by The Studio Office in the kulturwerk of the bbk berlin.
